Laminate countertops are becoming increasingly popular. While many people hold quartz and granite to be the king of all countertops, laminate has so many great perks that it’s hard to skip out on. With plenty of options and easy to clean surface, this inexpensive material is a go-to for homeowners everywhere who are wanting to design their rooms on a budget. Here are some common questions that consumers have about laminate countertops , brush up on this knowledge before you get them installed to make sure that these are just the right countertops for you.

Q: Can I put hot pots on my laminate countertops ?

A: No. You want to make sure to avoid placing anything that is extremely hot on the surface of your countertops in order to avoid burning or scorching them. While it won’t be devastating if you accidently put it down for a second, you will want to always have some type of heat barrier between the pot and the countertop in order to provide the protection they need.

Q: How do I get rid of stains on laminate countertops ?

A: Stains are relatively easy to pull out of laminate. Simply make a baking soda paste (3:1 ration of baking soda to water) and place the paste on the stain for approximately 5 minutes. After this is done, use a non-abrasive pad and gently buff the stain away. Rinse with clean water to avoid any discoloration after you are done.

Q: How can I clean my laminate countertops daily?

A: Laminate is not only super easy to clean; it is resistant to bacteria due to the non-porous surface. For daily cleaning, simply mix warm water and a couple of drops of dish soap and wash your countertops. When you are done, rinse with clean water to get all of the soap up. You don’t want any soap left behind as it could cause discoloration.
